The Licence of The Kyro Skanssi Inn Given by Per Brahe in 1640

Per Brahe (the younger), the Count of Visingborg,
the Baron of Rydboholm and Lindholm,
the Lord High Steward of Swedish Empire,
The Governor General of Finland, Aland and both Karelians and the Lagman
of Vestmanland, Bergslag (mountain parishes) and Dalecarlia.

When the owner of this letter Yrjo Luukkaanpoika (George Luca’s son) from the village of Jamijarvi in Kyro parish has asked permission
to open an inn by the earth fortress of Karvia in the deep forest of Kyro, has it
accorded to him. On account of permission he
is obliged to house people that travel on the road going there
and who must pay him
moderately. According to the orders of Her Royal Majesty
he must get horses and carriages needed. He must
carefully look after that soldiers can’t run away over the borders there. On account of that he gets
tax free for five years.
He can also enjoy all the releases and privileges
that other inns have in countryside. As to arrangements
of inns he gets the first position. All must obey this
and nobody must cause any disturb or harm to him.

Date: The Castle of Turku the 5th of June in year 1640.
